Groen Hoek
This competition took place when much of Brooklyn and indeed NYC waterfront remained derelict as privately owned, defunct factories. As fenced off and inaccessible ruins, they assumed the quality of follies, strange and useless objects in the landscape.
The boathouse, occupying this myth, presents a curious round, spiked object. Inspired by the artist Yaacov Agam, the fins hold text which are legible only at a specific point and distance.
